Dear Professor Schwarzkopf:
I am writing to invite you to become a reviewer for Mathematical Reviews (MR).
As you probably know, the MR database covers the world research literature in mathematics by means of reviews written by experts. For over 65 years, MR has been assisted in its mission by mathematical scientists throughout the world who have thoughtfully provided perspective on the published literature. The collective work of these reviewers represents a permanent contribution to the community and plays a vital role in ongoing developments in mathematical science. The literature is growing rapidly and we need additional reviewers to keep up with this growth, speed up the reviewing process, and improve the quality of the reviews by having specialists in all fields.
We know from your published work that your qualifications and research interests are very much the kind we need. We would be very pleased to be able to call on you to review for us.
If you are interested and have the time for reviewing, please send us the requested information (see attached form), either by e-mail to mathrev@ams.org or by printing the completed form and returning it to us. This information will allow our editors to assign you appropriate items to review. For information about serving as a reviewer, see the Guide for Reviewers at http://www.ams.org/mr-database .
It is our hope that you will choose to join us in this important enterprise. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Graeme Fairweather Executive Editor gxf@ams.org 734-996-5257 MATHEMATICAL REVIEWS 416 Fourth Street P.O. Box 8604 Ann Arbor MI 48107-8604
Please complete all sections and return to us. You may use e-mail (mathrev@ams.org)
List the classification numbers from the 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC 2010) (see http://www.ams.org/msc) that describe areas in which you are willing to review (e.g., 18C10, 20K20): [Please use classifications ending in 2 digits rather than those ending in -XX or -xx.]
Key words are often used to identify appropriate reviewers. State in your own words your reviewing interests (e.g., basic subgroups of torsion-free groups):
Languages you can read (including your native language):
Would you be willing to receive a review item in PDF format if it were available? Yes___ No___
What is the maximum number of items you would like to have at any one time for review (we suggest 2-4)? ________ (It is not easy for MR to regulate the rate at which we send papers to a reviewer but we do set a limit on the number of items a reviewer may have at any one time. The default limit is set at 6. Although you may be sent more than one item within a month, we do not expect you to return them at a rate of more than one per month.)
